About Octopeople Crafts

WHO AM I?

Hi I'm Robyn, craft fiend and a forever student. Throughout college, I dedicated myself to learning one new craft each year. Before then, I always loved making things, repairing clothes, furniture, anything crafty really. Stresses really made me assess what brings me joy, what will keep me alive. Crafting is that thing, and I am eager to share what I have made with other people. I have always given things as gifts, especially when I didn't have money to spend on other things when I was putting it into crafts.

I used to have a dream job, then I realized I don't really dream of labor. What I dream of is a community that supports one another and learns from one another. Once I realized that, cultivating/participating in an educational community could be far beyond what I had envisioned. And it meant that finding income would have to be different than I had envisioned. So this is one opportunity I am working on, and I would love to see it thrive.

You can also find me streaming somewhat irregularly on twitch. Sometimes it's video games, sometimes I am making things I would like to sell but forget to take good pictures and make a listing. Trying to see that thrive too.

WHY OCTOPEOPLE?

Meet Mx. Octoperson

When I decided to sell things, I wasn't sure what to name the shop. I wanted it to be unique to me and my ideas, and represent some of my interests. I started pluralizing octopus as octopeople after seeing in a Phineas and Ferb episode platypi being pluralized as platypeople. I also say platypeople but I am a larger octopus fan than platypus fan.

Once I had decided on the name, I immediately went to creating a logo, because I wanted to see what I could make. And thus Mx. Octoperson was born. Angry eyebrows forever. Are they angry? No. They eyebrows communciates a certain intensity and intention behind their actions.
